The Hublot Polo Gold Cup has established itself as a premier European summer tournament, inviting top-ranking players from around the world to compete for coveted world-ranking points. The match?takes place on August 21st, 2016 in the upscale resort town of Gstaad, located in the Oberland region of the Swiss Alps. Gstaad has a long history as a holiday destination for celebrities and royalty alike, making it an ideal location for the match, while?the field at Gstaad-Saanen Airport will be used to host the tournament.

Four teams will compete for the Gold Cup, one of which is sponsored by the event?s host, Hublot, while Banque, Gstaad Palace, and a private group of sponsors called ?Polo Friends? will sponsor the remaining teams. This year marks the first time in the event?s 20-year history that a Chinese team will compete in Switzerland?s only high-goal polo summer tournament. High-goal is said to be the cream of the crop in Polo, exposing players and audience members to a faster, more open, and more advanced game.

Over the years, the tournament has become an audience magnet, attracting affluent travelers from around the world to enjoy this “royal” equestrian game. Over 6,000 spectators are expected to attend the annual 3-day competition, including the traditional Players Parade which runs through Gstaad on the Friday afternoon before the match. Another popular event is Gala Night, which will be held this year on Saturday, August 20th. During the Gala, the Gstaad Palace team will be on hand to ensure guests have a great time, with the party once again lasting well into the night.
