Long-range jets fly the longest non-stops in private aviation. Twelve to nineteen seats, range typically 5,000 to 7,500 nautical miles, and a cabin configured for extended flights with sleeping quarters, full galleys, and dedicated crew rest areas. From Switzerland the category reaches any city in Asia, the Americas, or the Pacific in a single leg or with one fuel stop.
Typical Aircraft
The Gulfstream G500, G550, G650, and G700, the Bombardier Global 5500, 6000, 6500, 7500, and Global Express, and the Dassault Falcon 7X and 8X are the long-range fleet. The G650 and Global 7500 represent the top of the non-stop range envelope, capable of connecting Zurich or Geneva to virtually any point on the globe in a single leg.
When Long-Range Fits the Switzerland Trip
Zurich or Geneva to New York, Los Angeles, Singapore, Tokyo, or Sydney non-stop on the right airframe are the defining use cases. For senior executives on long international trips where rest and productivity in the air are as important as the destination, long-range jets are the primary option. They are also the right call when the group size, range requirement, and need for full sleeping accommodation combine to push past what a heavy jet can offer.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Switzerland-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
Ski season runs December through March and drives the sharpest demand spikes we see. Samedan airport (serving St. Moritz) and Bern-Belp (serving the Bernese Oberland, including Grindelwald) handle mountain transfers; book early for January and February. The World Economic Forum in Davos each January compresses Zurich-area availability significantly. Art Basel in June is the Basel demand window. For summer events such as the Locarno Film Festival and the Montreux Jazz Festival, advance notice on aircraft gives us more routing options.
